Oakville Minor Oaks Hockey Association
Alex Pace was a MOHA house league defenceman who loved the game and loved being with his teammates. He believed that everyone should have a chance to play and enjoy the game if they wished.
Alex died early in 2009, after a 2 year battle with cancer. He was almost 12 years old. Following his death, one of Alex's former teammates and his parents created a patch with a simple design showing Alex's initials and number. The team wore it on their jerseys for the rest of the season.
MOHA chose to institute a community service award in Alex's name; Alex fervently believed in helping others and hoped that this dream would live beyond him.
The first awards were handed out at the end of the 2008-2009 season to members of our hockey community who had gone above and beyond to do good for others.
In this spirit of community service, the AMP #10 program has been created to assist underprivileged hockey players in Oakville and beyond.
